Level 3 and 4 Awards in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector

Great News! We're delighted to announce the launch of the NCFE Level 3 and 4 Awards in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) which are now live!

The Qualification Specification and Information Sheet for these  qualifications are available to download from here. The Information Sheet outlines the benefits of these qualifications at a glance.

Government reforms

Due to Government workforce reforms, more people than ever are registering on initial teacher training. There's no doubt about it, lifelong learning is a growing sector and these qualifications are the ideal way to get involved. Did you know...?

¨ There are more students in FE colleges than in universities

¨ One in 5 adults are currently learning, with 42% of adults having participated in some learning activity during the past 3 years

¨ Over £19 billion was spent on this sector in 2008

¨ Over one million people are working in lifelong learning in the UK.

These Level 3 and 4 Awards relate to the new minimum requirements for new teachers from September 2007, as laid out in the Department for Education and Sills (DfES) paper 'Equipping our Teachers for the Future: Reforming Initial Teacher Training for the Learning and Skills Sector'.

The government sees a professional workforce as a key element in realising its aim to raise standards, get rid of poor performance in colleges and enable colleges to respond more effectively to employers' needs.

Setting PTLLS as the basic minimum standard for all new entrants to the profession should ensure all students in the lifelong learning sector are taught by teachers and trainers who are both experienced in their subject and skilled in teaching.

The NCFE Awards in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector are short introductory courses which give a threshold licence to teach for all new teachers, trainers and tutors delivering publicly funded provision from September 2007.

They represent the first step towards becoming a licensed practitioner and are the ideal way to get a taste of teaching!

The single unit qualification is flexible, with 30 guided hours, 30 self guided hours and can be delivered in a variety of ways; for example as a one week course, as day release or part time over several weeks.

NCFE, as always, will make the whole process of delivering these qualifications as easy as possible for you, offering user friendly advice, support and accessible assessment.

We'll also be making sure you get fantastic value for money by offering both levels of these qualifications at £35 for joint registration and certification.
