CIPD North East of England HR&D Awards 2015undefined

NCFE has won the prestigious HR&D Team of the Year award at the CIPD North East of England HR&D Awards 2015.

We attended the awards ceremony on Thursday 11 June at the Hilton Gateshead, and were delighted to accept the award, which was awarded to us for our HR and development initiatives that benefit NCFE and our staff.

Our talent strategy, which includes developing upcoming leaders in the business and our rewards and benefits, was highlighted in our CIPD win. We were also congratulated on our colleague engagement, and the importance we place on performance management and staff development.


Top 50 Companies for Customer Service

NCFE is passionate about providing exceptional customer service and exceeding your expectations. We think our approach to customer service makes us different, easy to do business with, flexible and responsive – but we don’t just want you to take our word for it…

We’ve been included in the Top 50 Companies for Customer Service benchmarking programme for three years running. This programme involves our customers ‘mystery shopping’ us via telephone calls and emails and rating our customer service against various criteria such as timeliness, ease of use and staff knowledge.

The good news is that we’ve been placed 8th in the country for call service, and are currently within the top 20 overall. We’re delighted with this achievement and we’re the only Awarding Organisation to be placed in the programme this year.

The Top 50 programme provides us with feedback to help us discover ways we can improve and continue to develop our high levels of service to our customers. We’ll use this alongside our feedback from our Use Your Voice programme to help make changes for the better. The Use Your Voice programme gives us regular feedback about how we can improve what we do. We’re always listening to our customers and we welcome your feedback so we can further enhance the way we do things! 

We have been selected on numerous occasions for the Best Companies and ‘The Sunday Times Top 100 Not for Profit Organisations to Work For’, as well as having a plethora of other awards under our belt.

NCFE first began its journey to being recognised as a great company to work for in 2007, when we entered in the Small Companies category for the ‘The Sunday Times Best Places to Work’ and Best Companies awards. Since then NCFE has been awarded a place in the ‘Top 100 Not for Profit Organisations to Work for’ category in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016.

Alongside this we’re also assessed against other organisations in the Best Companies Accreditation scheme, which awards companies with a starred recognition status.

We’re proud of these achievements as it’s our colleagues that cast their vote, and each year more than 49,000 employees from over 250 companies contribute to the application process.

We genuinely believe that we reward and treat staff well and that, as a result, our employees provide a great level of service. This enables us to grow and earn the money that we can then re-invest in our staff for the benefit of our customers.

We’re committed to providing exceptional opportunities for employee development, employee incentives and developing a team ethos.

Over the past few years we’ve invested in a number of initiatives to promote employee development and recognition. We’ve introduced employee benefits, such as additional annual leave and pension entitlements, a fantastic flexi-time scheme and a healthcare plan to help keep employees happy and healthy. We’ve a fantastic learning and development programme which covers everything from induction through to an individual training allowance.

This all helps to create an excellent culture and positive attitude to team working that we work to continuously develop and improve.

Investors in People (IIP) Gold

IIP GoldWe pride ourselves on delivering our excellent performance through our people and to prove it we’ve held the Investors in People (IIP) standard accreditation for a long time. We’re a forward-thinking, ambitious and people-centric organisation and have been making changes for the better since our last IIP assessment, so we thought it was about time to see just how far we’d come and go for the gold standard. Well, we made it and are now a gold standard company (which we always knew we were, but it’s nice for someone else to agree!).

Getting gold is something we want to shout about!  It means a lot to us because it proves that we’ve achieved a lot beyond the standard and we feel we stand out from the competition because of this. Our gold standard reflects the hard work we put in to recruiting, developing and retaining our people and we hope that it will continue to allow us to attract new business and talented employees.
