Because we care
You may not know that as well as being an awarding organisation, NCFE is also a registered educational charity, committed to changing the lives of learners and supporting people to progress and achieve.
NCFE’s purpose is to ‘create opportunities for success to enrich society’ – it’s at the heart of who we are and it’s what we believe in.
One of our core company values is to ‘do the right thing’ (not just the easy thing); to work with integrity and respect in everything we do. We do crazy things to raise money for charity (we’re particularly fond of our fancy dress!). And we don’t leave our dirty dishes in the kitchen for someone else. We recycle our rubbish and we use our timebank scheme to do voluntary work in the community. That’s how we roll!
We’re also very proud to partner with The Helena Kennedy Foundation (HKF) – an incredible worthwhile cause which exists to overcome social injustice by providing financial bursaries, mentoring and support to disadvantaged students.
Check out our environmental credentials, our colleague case studies, our work with the HKF and much more!
It’s because we care.
All for a good cause
From climbing the Himalayas to wearing Christmas jumpers; from holding bake sales to wearing pyjamas for work – our people will go to great lengths when it comes to raising some pennies for a good cause.
What’s even better is that NCFE will double any cash that has been raised in the office, meaning we can donate even more money to the charities that matter to us.
Helena Kennedy Foundation
NCFE is proud to partner with The Helena Kennedy Foundation, making significant monthly financial contributions to the charity as well as providing support.
The Foundation exists to overcome social injustice by providing financial bursaries, mentoring and support to disadvantaged students from the further and adult education sectors, enabling them to complete their studies in higher education and move successfully into employment.
HKF was initially set up in 1998 in response to research which showed that there were over 15 million adults of working age with few or no formal qualifications, many of whom faced significant barriers to returning to education.
Since its early days, its team has grown (although it is still primarily run by volunteers) and the charity has attracted the support of a host of famous faces from the worlds of sport, politics and showbiz including Ade Adepitan MBE, The Rt Hon David Blunkett MP, Joanna Lumley OBE, Julie Walters OBE and Dame Judi Dench to name a few.
Helena Kennedy comments….
“In the last 15 years since the Helena Kennedy Foundation was established in my name, the landscape in which the charity operates has changed beyond all recognition and yet our work has never been more relevant.
“When times are hard, making a long term investment in education can be a difficult choice for young people and their families. We are determined, with the support of an organisation like NCFE to continue to recognise achievement, invest in talent, reward hard work and believe in the potential of education to transform lives.
“Our partnership to NCFE will allow us to take forward our shared aim - creating opportunities for learners to succeed in society - in a practical way, supporting talented young people to complete their studies at FE level and ultimately move successfully into the next stage of their lives.”
