HEAD OF NEW BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
Tell us a bit about you
I live in Lancashire with my wife, three boys (who are now ‘blokes’) and my dog, who often joins in on my Teams calls! Outside of work, I enjoy playing and watching football and we all worship as a family at the Anfield church. We love travelling and often visit my wife’s family in Italy, but more recently enjoy caravan holidays in the UK where our dog is our guest of honour. I recently stopped coaching youth football after 14 years and I now struggle to cope with all the free time at the weekends – for three years I ran 3 teams, hence why I have no hair!
Tell us a bit about your career
I have over 30 years’ experience in commercial sales and have worked exclusively around new business growth and acquisition across a range of different and diverse sectors, from FMCG to packaging, and banking to retail. I’ve been lucky enough to work with some big brands, including persuading Beiersdorf (Nivea Men) to move into football sponsorship and advertising, training the TFL Ambassadors for the London Olympics whilst at G4S, and working on the advertising campaign to launch the National Lottery with Camelot. I have always enjoyed identifying new business opportunities and then securing long term, profitable relationships with customers.
I am relatively new to the education sector and first came across NCFE when I worked for Babington a few years ago. Colleagues and customers spoke in glowing terms about the quality of the people who worked there and commented favourably on the customer service they provided. When my circumstances changed, I was invited to support the EPA team to help grow this area within NCFE and I was able to see and experience for myself their kindness, dedication, and professionalism. I’m passionate about advancing and promoting learning for all and am excited to be part of NCFE at such a crucial stage in its history. We have the expertise, integrity and responsibility to make a real difference and transform the lives and future careers of all our learners.
