HEAD OF PMO
Tell us a bit about you
I live in Whitley Bay on the Northumberland coast with my wife, two kids and our beautiful springer spaniel. When I’m not at work, you’ll normally find me at the beach (sometimes in the sea!) or trawling the internet looking for that next pair of sneakers or obscure hip-hop album to add to my collection. My wife says that I'm a hoarder, but I prefer to say 'avid collector'. My other favourite pastime is being in the gym. I was told aged 28 that I’d be in a wheelchair by the time I was 40, and so far, my rigorous exercise regime has helped me beat the odds!
Tell us a bit about your career
I’ve been a project manager for over a quarter of a century! I first cut my teeth in London, working for one of the UK’s first internet service providers. I then moved on to the bleeding edge of 90’s tech with Europe’s first online gaming service provider, before what was supposed to be a brief experience at Electronic Arts. There, I managed delivery of the Formula One games franchise and got to work on other high-profile titles including Harry Potter, Bond and Batman. My intended 'short experience gaining stint down South' ended when I returned to the North East almost 15 years later. I then helped North Tyneside Council define and implement their risk management strategy and operations, before moving on to North East giants Sage and Greggs. Since then, I've operated in the digital space with an email service provider, Communicator Corp, and creative agencies Surge and Orange Bus. My final role before joining NCFE was with Capita, establishing their digital agency services in the North East.
Before joining NCFE, I never felt that I worked for an organisation that delivers a true social benefit. With NCFE, I can achieve that goal. This is not about me though, and the main focus for me is giving something back. I truly feel that the work I do here will help those people who most need it.
