Prepare for placement – Health and Social Care learners

Here you’ll find the preparing for placement programme for health and social care learners. Learners can get ready for their placement while waiting to begin or re-enter their setting.

Placements are invaluable to prepare learners for their future career. Learners develop employable skills through practical experience of their future working environment. Of course, assessed placement experience also confirms occupational excellence.

Currently, however, securing placement opportunities is challenging. We recommend that our centres consider alternative placement settings alongside the traditional, such as:

  • Services within the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector
  • Leisure centres running events and activities for vulnerable individuals
  • Health promotion events
  • Inclusive learning environments within colleges and training providers.

This list isn’t exhaustive – the most important thing is that the placement experience will be meaningful. Learners taking competency-based qualifications must have a placement experience that will allow them to achieve the assessment criteria. Don’t hesitate to contact your External Quality Assurer to discuss other suitable settings.

Year one learners

Year two learners
