Assessment and Internal Quality Assurance Pro-Formas and Guidance documentation

Below you'll find a list of pro-formas and guidance documentation which can be used when planning and delivering NCFE qualifications.

Please note that these are not mandatory documents and you can use your own versions if you choose to.  The documents below are examples which you can adapt to suit your centre’s needs.  The benefit of using these documents is that NCFE staff and External Quality Assurers are familiar with their content and will therefore be able to interpret them easily and offer guidance on how they should be used.

If you need any advice on how to use any of these documents, please contact your External Quality Assurer or speak to our External Quality Assurance team.

[icon]Learner Evidence Tracking Log

This document can help learners to keep track of their work.

[icon]Assessment Tracking Sheet

This document is used to keep a track of what evidence each of your learners has collected. Use each Evidence Produced section to record which of the qualification's units, learning outcomes and assessment criteria have been met through that particular piece of evidence.

[icon]Evidence and Grading Tracker

This document can help learners keep track of their work as they progress through our substantial qualifications.

[icon]Assessor Feedback to Learner

It's essential that your learners are regularly given feedback from their Assessor. Verbal feedback is great but you also need to provide evidence of written feedback.

[icon]Learner Statement

This should be completed by each of your learners before they begin the qualification and is used to declare that their work is their own.

[icon]Centre Guidance on Assessment and Internal Quality Assurance

This document gives a description about the rules of evidence.

[icon]Internal Quality Assurance Strategy and Sampling Guidance

This is guidance to assist you in developing your own internal quality assurance strategy and sampling plan.

[icon]Internal Quality Assurance Feedback Report

This is used for the Internal Quality Assurer to give feedback to the Assessor. Feedback can either be given on a particular piece of learner evidence (such as a question and answer session) or on a particular unit. The IQA should list the assessment criteria being addressed and indicate whether or not they have been met. They can add comments as well as actions.

[icon]Internal Quality Assurance Sampling Plan & Tracking Sheet

This document can be used to ensure that your Internal Quality Assurer is sampling across all units and is sampling a range of learners.

[icon]Planned Programme Outline

This is sometimes referred to as a Scheme of Work. This NCFE document gives you some guidance on what you should consider when developing it.

[icon]Record of Learner Observation

Learner observation can be a very useful assessment method, particularly with NVQs or other vocationally based qualifications.

[icon]Record of Professional Discussion

Professional Discussion can be a very useful assessment method, particularly with NVQs or other vocationally based qualifications. This is where the Assessor will talk to a learner about how they carry out an activity and will identify any learning outcomes and assessment criteria which are covered by the actions of the learner. It's important to explain exactly how each of these has been met. The discussion could be about a work process they carry out or about some regulations which influence the way they work. The Assessor Feedback to learner document can be used in conjunction with this, to ensure that both Assessor and learner are able to comment on the activity and identify any outstanding actions. For example, a learning outcome or some assessment criteria may not have been met, so this could be addressed by using an alternative assessment method such as a learner observation.

[icon]The Dream Assessor

The role and support from the Assessor is of paramount importance to the overall success, achievement and positive outcomes for the qualification.

[icon]Witness Testimony

Witness testimony is a great way of gathering evidence for learners who are actually doing the job for which they are being assessed.
