Approval and Endorsement Process

Process for learning resources endorsement

Any organisation can develop learning resources to support NCFE qualifications and/or unit(s) and have them reviewed and approved by NCFE.

Some organisations, because of the partner relationship we have with them, can also get their learning resources endorsed. This process should be used when learning resources are submitted for approval by an organisation which is one of NCFE’s strategic endorsed partners.

Where learning resources are endorsed, the supplier’s organisation has previously been accepted as a partner by our Strategic Management Team and a strategic contract is in place.  Such organisations then become known as endorsed partners.

NCFE’s endorsed partners are:

  • Hallmark
  • Learning Curve Group
  • NCC Resources Ltd
  • Oxford University Press
  • REED NCFE
  • The Skills Network
  • vision2learn (Creating Careers)
  • Working Knowledge
  • REED NCFE

When learning resources are submitted for review by an organisation which isn’t an NCFE Endorsed Partner, these resources follow the approval process.

What does endorsed mean?

Endorsed learning resources have been reviewed by NCFE and we’ve provided formal sign off and confirmation that they cover the learning outcomes and assessment criteria of the associated NCFE qualification/unit(s).  By using the endorsed learning resources, Learners will therefore be given the opportunity to achieve the requirements of the qualification/unit(s).

We’ll arrange for a sector expert to review the learning resources against the required NCFE criteria. The review will cover:

  • content
  • level and literacy demand
  • equality and diversity
  • full coverage of learning outcomes and assessment criteria.

We won’t review the following, as it’s the material producer’s responsibility to make sure that final versions of the learning resources are accurate and fit for purpose:

  • spelling, punctuation, grammar and text formatting
  • house style
  • use of colours
  • size of boxes provided.

The reviewer will assess whether the learning resources meet the requirements for endorsement and once done, we’ll provide feedback (where relevant) to the learning resources producer.

When we’re happy that all of the learning outcomes and assessment criteria within the relevant qualification or unit(s) are covered and when all feedback has been addressed, we’ll confirm that they’ve been endorsed by NCFE.

Because they are endorsed, NCFE will advertise the learning resources in our publications (eg Directory of Products and Services), on our website, at NCFE events and we will allow the endorsed partner to use the NCFE logo in association with them.

The endorsed partner can also publish that their learning resources have been formally endorsed by NCFE.

The endorsement only relates to the approved version of the learning resources and if any changes are made, NCFE will need to review them again.
