Performance Tables News
To ensure our qualifications meet the needs of schools and are a robust technical alternative to GCSEs, we submit our Key Stage 4 V Certs and our qualifications for Key Stage 5 to the Department for Education for Approval.
We’ve had a great response to our V Certs and qualifications for post-16 pupils. With each submission window, this gives us an opportunity to respond to feedback, make improvements and broaden our offer and add additional subject areas.
You’ll find our most up to date news and information we have on which of our qualifications are currently approved using our quick guide.
2020 Performance tables
The Department for Education have now advised Awarding Organisations of their second update to the approved list of qualifications. We’re delighted that our new model for V Certs has been received positively and that the first of our new combined level tech awards to appear in the performance tables is the NCFE Level 1 and 2 Technical Award in Health and Fitness.
The rest of our new model V Certs are still pending approval in the 2020 performance table and we’ll be resubmitting these qualifications in the third window which closes on 8 June with expected feedback from the Department for Education in July.
Information for centres with learners completing Tech Levels or Applied Generals on 2018 list of approved qualifications
On 19 January 2018, the DfE released the following update to the guidance which relates to learners completing key stage 5 in summer 2018:
'Ministers have decided that students who are due to complete key stage 5 in summer 2018 and are taking Tech Levels or Applied General qualifications on the 2018 list should be given an additional opportunity to retake their external assessment(s). It has become apparent that some providers may not have fully understood the more challenging nature of the reformed qualifications when students were enrolled, and the additional retake opportunity is designed to mitigate the impact of this.'
If your learners need this additional third attempt during the 18/19 session, please contact [email protected] as this will need to be input manually into our system.
Only learners who are due to complete Key Stage 5 in summer 2018 will be eligible for the additional (third) attempt, if necessary.
For clarification, the NCFE and CACHE qualifications affected are:
- NCFE Level 3 Applied General in Music Technology (601/6779/8)
- NCFE CACHE Technical Level 3 Certificate in Childcare and Education (601/8436/X)
