About this qualification
The qualification is part of a suite of qualifications that builds on knowledge and skills from entry level 1 through to level 2. It will support learners with any identified skills gaps in English and has been designed using the Functional Skills subject content to develop skills for everyday life and support progression into Functional Skills.
The partial certification fee has been removed for these qualifications to allow centres to claim for only the units that the learner has achieved free of charge.
Who is it suitable for?
This qualification is suitable for any adult learner who has not studied an English qualification at this level. It is specifically split into smaller units of learning and is assessed internally to help build confidence in essential skills and knowledge.
Pre-16 learners who are not following, or are not yet ready to follow, a traditional GCSE route in education for English could also study this qualification.
What are the entry requirements?
There are no specific prior skills/knowledge a learner must have for this qualification. However, learners may find it helpful if they have already achieved an entry level 2 qualification in English.
How is this qualification structured?
To be awarded this qualification, learners are required to successfully achieve 8 mandatory units.
Do you need to be working to take this qualification?
