Request for contextualisation of Functional Skills controlled assessments
This process is for centres to request validation of contextualised Functional Skills controlled assessments to a given context.
Please note: centres are unable to contextualise the reformed Functional Skills English reading assessment.
Our new-style assessment papers are now available to book. Any contextualised papers approved prior to 17 October 2025 will no longer be valid after 27 November 2025.
Centres requiring a contextualised assessment following this date, will be required to submit a new request.
Any Centres who do not currently have an approved contextualisation request will also need to submit a new request before any learners sit the assessment.
Please be advised that a response to a contextualisation request is two weeks.
