V Cert in Music Technology

Our Level 1/2 Technical Award in Music Technology gives pupils an exciting taste of what it’s like to work in the music industry. Covering a range of topics, from setting up and using a digital audio workstation to planning and undertaking a studio recording session, our Music Technology V Cert provides pupils with the practical skills and knowledge to succeed in this sector.
V Cert Technical Awards are designed to be delivered over two years. The first year of delivery is entirely dedicated to teaching and learning, with all summative assessments taking place in the final year of study. The Music Technology V Cert Technical Award is assessed by Non-Exam Assessment (60%) and Examined Assessment (40%).

Who this qualification is for
This qualification is designed for pupils who are passionate about music and interested in the technology behind recording, producing and creating sound. It offers a practical, project-based introduction to the music technology industry, helping to build a solid foundation in both technical skills and creative production. Pupils will explore key areas such as how to use digital audio workstations (DAWs), the elements of music, multitrack recording, mixing techniques and sound creation for media. They will apply their knowledge through hands-on projects that involve composing, producing and editing audio for a variety of purposes, including visual media. This qualification is ideal for learners considering further study or a career in music production, sound engineering or the wider creative industries.
