What does this qualification cover?
This qualification is designed to help learners build the knowledge and skills needed when working with children. It covers a diverse range of job roles and occupational areas working in a children’s setting.
This qualification confirms competence in these areas and serves as the required qualification for all new practitioners for registration and regulatory requirements in Northern Ireland.
Who is it suitable for?
This qualification is suitable for learners who wish to work or are working in a supervised role in children’s care, learning and development in Northern Ireland.
What are the entry requirements?
Entry is at the discretion of the centre. However, learners should be aged 16 or above to undertake this qualification.
How is this qualification structured?
To be awarded this qualification, learners are required to successfully achieve all 8 mandatory units.
How is it assessed?
All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods which
could include: direct observation within the workplace, a portfolio of
evidence, written assignments or a task.
How many credits are required to complete it?
48 credits
Do you need to be working to take this qualification?
This qualification requires learners to complete a 350-400 hour work placement.
What related qualifications can you progress to?
Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to the Level 3 Diploma for Children’s Care Learning and Development (Wales and Northern Ireland).
