A new updated qualification that meets the new Department for Education (DfE) early years educator (EYE) criteria will be available from 1 September 2024, draft specifications will be shared in due course.
About this qualification
The aim of this qualification is to provide the learner with the expertise, skills and professional approach needed to become a facilitator of Montessori education, including preparation to take on a leadership role in a Montessori setting.
Who is it suitable for?
This qualification is available for learners aged 18+ in England only.
English and maths requirements
Learners who achieved a full and relevant level 3 or above qualification after 1 September 2014 will need to hold a suitable level 2 English qualification in order to count within the staff:child ratios at level 3. In addition, from January 2024, a manager or a learner that starts in a manager role will also need to hold a suitable level 2 maths qualification.
How is this qualification structured?
Learners must successfully complete all 13 mandatory units.
How is it assessed?
All units will be internally assessed using a range of assessment methods evidencing knowledge, understanding and skills.
Do you need to be working to take this qualification?
A minimum of 400 hours professional placement in an approved Montessori early years setting is required
What related qualifications can you progress to?
Learners may progress into a foundation degree or degree in a relevant subject.
Career opportunities
Learners may progress directly into work in a Montessori early years setting.
