Suffolk New College learners prepare for entry to public services

Learners on the NCFE Level 2 and 3 Diploma Entry to the Uniformed Services at Suffolk New College are gaining skills for a wide range of occupational roles in Public Services.

  

The content of these qualifications is designed to equip learners with transferable skills required in the sector. Learners can expect to develop teamwork and leadership skills, all of which are hugely important as many roles in the public services sector rely heavily on these skills.

After completing these qualifications, learners at New Suffolk College have progressed onto Higher Education, or directly into the public service of their choice. Jack, learner at Suffolk New College said: “My NCFE qualification is providing me with the skills, knowledge and understanding of a wide range of roles within the sector. It’ll help me go on to apply to be a Police Officer”

To ensure that the qualifications are relevant and robust, NCFE work alongside experts actively employed in Public Service organisations to develop the content and ensure that the assignments are linked to realistic work-based scenarios that learners could encounter in their future careers.

Lee Mandley, Head of Sport and Public Services at Suffolk New College, commented: “These qualifications include a range of modules specific to the day-to-day roles of the uniformed Public Services which has helped prepare learners for application processes and fitness requirements through classroom taught lessons, guest speakers and practical and physical activities.

The NCFE qualifications are relevant for the learners’ personal and career interests, as they are flexible and current which allow learners to be readily prepared for their progression into employment within the Public Services. We would recommend NCFE to other centres as various learner outcomes are achieved through the NCFE qualifications that we deliver.”
