About this qualification
The purpose of this qualification is to enable learners to progress to a level 2 music technology qualification and provide learners with an introduction to the knowledge and technical skills required in music technology.
Who is it suitable for?
This qualification is designed for learners aged pre-16 and above.
What are the entry requirements?
Centres are responsible for ensuring that this qualification is appropriate for the age and ability of learners. They need to make sure that learners can fulfil the requirements of the assessment criteria and comply with the relevant literacy, numeracy and health and safety aspects of these qualifications.
Registration is at the discretion of the centre, in accordance with equality legislation and should be made on the Portal.
Learners registered on this qualification shouldn’t undertake another qualification at the same level with the same or a similar title, as duplication of learning may affect funding eligibility.
How is this qualification structured?
This qualification consists of 3 optional units in group A, 11 optional units in group B and 4 additional units.
To be awarded the Level 1 Award in Music Technology, learners are required to successfully complete 1 unit from Group A and 3 units from Group B.
How is it assessed?
This qualification is internally assessed and externally quality assured via portfolio of evidence.
How long will it take to complete this qualification?
This qualification can be completed in 6 months or less depending on the learner’s knowledge and experience.
Is employment or completion of work/industry placement required for this qualification?
No.
