About this qualification
This qualification has been supported by Creative and Cultural Skills, the Sector Skills Council for the Creative and Cultural Industries.
The NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Music Technology is an ideal qualification for learners who wish to develop their underpinning knowledge of the processes and principles of music production. The qualification provides learners with a good insight into the skills and knowledge they require, not only for working in the music industry, but also for employment in general.
Who is it suitable for?
This qualification is designed for learners aged pre-16 and above.
What are the entry requirements?
There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification; however, learners might find it useful if they have a completed level 1 qualification.
Centres are responsible for ensuring that this qualification is appropriate for the age and ability of learners. They need to make sure that learners can fulfil the requirements of the learning outcomes and comply with the relevant literacy, numeracy and health and safety aspects of the qualification.
Registration is at the discretion of the centre, in accordance with equality legislation and should be made on the Portal.
Learners registered on this qualification shouldn’t undertake another qualification at the same level with the same or a similar title, as duplication of learning may affect funding eligibility.
How is this qualification structured?
This qualification consists of 2 mandatory units, 9 optional units and 5 additional units.
To be awarded the NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Music Technology, learners are required to successfully complete 2 mandatory units and 2 optional units.
Learners may wish to complete any of the additional units to gain extra credits and to facilitate progression; however, these units will not contribute to the overall credit value of the qualification.
How is it assessed?
This qualification is internally assessed and externally quality assured via portfolio of evidence.
How long will it take to complete this qualification?
This qualification can be completed in 1 year or less depending on the learner’s knowledge and experience.
Is employment or completion of work/industry placement required for this qualification?
No.
