What does this qualification cover?
The purpose of this qualification is to provide specialist knowledge, skills and understanding relating to working in the police force in areas such as career aspirations, leadership skills and equality, diversity and inclusion, which can be applied to current or future employment. The content has been developed with employers, subject experts and Tutors to ensure that it’s relevant to the real world and meets the need of employers.
What is a nested qualification?
This qualification is nested. Qualifications within a nested suite allow learners to be topped up to a qualification that is the same level and subject within the Introductory Certificate, Certificate, Diploma, Extended Diploma structure. This can be done by self-service through the Portal.

Who is it suitable for?
This qualification is designed to provide learners with an in-depth understanding of the principles of policing and to allow them to explore the various avenues of work within it. It will also allow learners to gain transferable skills that can be applied to the workplace or further study.
What are the entry requirements?
Entry is at the discretion of the centre. However, learners should be aged 16 or above to undertake this qualification.
How is this qualification structured?
Diploma (540) - 3 Mandatory units + 6 Optional units.
How is it assessed?
This qualification is internally assessed with a portfolio of evidence.
Do you need to be working to take this qualification?
Learners do not need experience in the workplace to take this qualification.
