About this qualification

This qualification aims to prepare learners with what to expect and what will be expected of them when studying at a higher level. It will enable learners to make an informed and confident choice about the options available at a higher level of study.

Nested qualification

This qualification is nested. Qualifications within a nested suite allow learners to be topped up to a qualification that is the same level and subject within the Award and Extended Award structure. Who is it suitable for?

This qualification is suitable for learners aged pre-16 and above.

What are the entry requirements?

There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification. However, learners may find it helpful if they have already achieved a level 2 qualification.

How is this qualification structured?

To be awarded the NCFE Level 3 Extended Award in Higher Level Studies, learners are required to successfully complete 2 mandatory units.

How is it assessed?

This qualification is assessed via an internally assessed and externally moderated portfolio of evidence.
