Apprenticeship Assessment Standard

Dental Nurse

Dental nurses are at the heart of patient care, working alongside dentists, hygienists, therapists and other dental professionals in a busy clinical setting. They support patients of all ages throughout their treatment journey, while collaborating with the wider healthcare team and, in some roles, engaging with community settings such as schools, care homes or patients’ homes.
As registered professionals, dental nurses provide safe, inclusive care across diverse environments. They work within the General Dental Council (GDC) standards, ensuring they only carry out tasks they are trained, competent and authorised to perform—helping deliver high-quality care every day.
