About this qualification 

This qualification is designed to provide learners with the knowledge and skills to treat and/or seek to correct common patterns of dysfunction and pre-diagnosed injuries. 

Who is it suitable for? 

This qualification is designed for learners aged 16 and above, who wish to further their careers in sports massage with adults. 

What are the entry requirements? 

Learners wanting to undertake this qualification must hold a Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage Therapy or equivalent. There is an element of communication involved (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) and learners should have basic skills in communication pitched at level 3. Performing sports massage is a physical activity and learners will need to be fit enough to carry this out. 

How is this qualification structured? 

To be awarded this qualification, learners are required to successfully achieve 3 units and 19 credits from the mandatory units. 

How is it assessed? 

Each learner must create a portfolio of evidence which is assessed by centre staff and externally quality assured by NCFE. 

Is employment or completion of work/industry placement required for this qualification? 

Work/industry placement experience is not required. 

What related qualifications can you progress to? 

Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to the following: 

• employment: 

• • sports massage therapist 

• further education: 

• • further specialist training in sports massage 

• • fitness instructing 
• higher education.
