About this qualification
This qualification develops the basic skills needed to care for a baby or young child. There is a choice of units – from setting a routine through to healthy lifestyles and the importance of play and learning.
Nested qualification
This qualification is nested with NCFE CACHE Entry Level Certificate in Caring for a Child/Children (Entry 3) (500/9353/8).
Who is it suitable for?
Anyone who wants to develop parenting and life skills, including those with special educational needs or where English is an additional language.
What are the entry requirements?
Learners should be at least 14 years old. NCFE does not set any other entry requirements but colleges or training providers may have their own guidelines.
How is this qualification structured?
Learners must achieve a minimum of 9 credits for the Award. 5 or more credits must be achieved at Entry Level 3 or Level 1 (Group A). A further 4 credits must be achieved from Group A and/or Group B.
How is it assessed?
This qualification is internally assessed via a portfolio of evidence.
How many credits are required to complete it?
A minimum of 9 credits.
How long will it take to complete this qualification?
This qualification can be completed in 6 months or less depending on the learner’s knowledge and experience.
Is employment or completion of work/industry placement required for this qualification?
Work/industry placement experience is not required for this qualification.
