About this qualification
This qualification is designed to provide learners with the expertise, skills and professional approach needed to become a Montessori educator, acting as a key person in a Montessori classroom.
This qualification confirms competence in an occupational role and learners are required to demonstrate the full application of knowledge and understanding over a period of time in the workplace.
Who is it suitable for?
This qualification is available for learners aged 19 and above in England only.
This qualification is designed for learners who wish to become a Montessori educator, acting as a key person in a Montessori classroom.
It may also be useful to learners studying qualifications in early years and childcare.
What are the entry requirements?
Registration is at the discretion of the centre in accordance with equality legislation and should be made on the NCFE Portal. However, learners should be aged 19 or over to undertake this qualification.
There are no specific prior skills/knowledge a learner must have for this qualification. However, learners may find it helpful if they have already achieved a previous level 2 qualification that is full and relevant or holds transferable skills preparing learners to study at level 3.
How is this qualification structured?
To be awarded this qualification, learners must successfully complete all 13 mandatory units.
How is it assessed?
Internally assessed and externally quality assured portfolio of evidence, which includes assessment in the professional placement.
How long will it take to complete this qualification?
This qualification can be completed in 1 to 2 years depending on the learner’s experience.
Do you need to be working to take this qualification?
A minimum of 400 hours professional placement in an approved Montessori early years setting is required.
What related qualifications can you progress to?
Learners may wish to progress to other qualifications in early years education.
