About this qualification

This qualification is designed to develop learners’ knowledge and skills to support progression towards the independent sexual violence adviser (ISVA) role.

Learners will develop an understanding of trauma-informed and victim-centred practice, safeguarding, risk assessment, referral pathways, and the criminal justice process in relation to supporting victims of sexual violence.

The qualification also supports learners to develop the practical and professional skills required to provide appropriate support within multi-agency environments.

Who is it suitable for?

This qualification is designed for learners aged 18 and above who are looking to progress towards a role as an independent sexual violence advisor. This qualification is available in England only. It does not qualify learners to practise as an ISVA and should be undertaken in conjunction with further relevant employer training and supervision.

What are the entry requirements?

There are no specific prior skills/knowledge a learner must have for this qualification. However, learners may find it helpful if they have already achieved a level 2 qualification.

How is this qualification structured?

To be awarded this qualification, learners are required to successfully achieve 6 mandatory units.

How is it assessed?

Internally assessed and externally quality assured portfolio of evidence.
