About this qualification
This qualification is designed to help support the learner’s personal development through acquiring skills and knowledge in sport, exercise and fitness. The qualification also allows learners to gain personal transferable skills that can be applied to the workplace or further study.
Who is it suitable for?
This qualification is designed for learners aged 16 to 18 who wish to develop skills and knowledge in sport.
The qualification may be taken by pre-16 learners following a vocational education programme and by learners aged 19 and over who are looking to change careers or are interested in developing their knowledge of sport.
What are the entry requirements?
There are no specific prior skills/knowledge a learner must have for this qualification. However, learners may find it helpful if they have already achieved an entry level qualification.
How is this qualification structured?
To be awarded the NCFE Level 1 Certificate in Sport (601/2623/1), learners must achieve a minimum of 20 credits (5 units) to be selected from the 11 optional units.
How is it assessed?
Internally assessed and externally quality assured via a portfolio of evidence.
How many credits are required to complete it?
There are a total of 20 credits for this qualification.
How long will it take to complete this qualification?
This qualification can be completed in 6 months or less depending on the learner’s knowledge and experience.
Is employment or completion of work/industry placement required for this qualification?
Work/industry placement experience is not required for this qualification.
