Shaping the future of learning and assessment

We’re on a mission to break boundaries in assessment with an investment fund to support and pilot new ideas on the future of assessment.

Pupil Progress

Pupil Progress is an EdTech partner that aims to combine personable support with a platform that tracks and analyses live student performance data, while making it meaningful and actionable. Pupil Progress empowers teachers and school leaders to understand what’s needed for each student to realise their potential for the next stage of their life. Their mission is to empower educators to see the person behind the data to inform teaching and support students in reaching their true potential; driving progress for all.

About the pilot

With support from the Assessment Innovation Fund, this pilot aims to investigate the impact of the Pupil Progress trackers and reports on learners’ performance.

The pilot aims to investigate the impact on learners’ performance of providing timely and easy to understand, course and skill specific granular data, along with links to course-specific resources to aid agency and motivation. Pupil Progress hypothesise that learners' achievement will improve when learners, teachers, and parents have the tools and granular, course-specific reports to improve identification in underperforming skill areas and links to relevant support resources.

Throughout the project, mock exam progress will be compared with student engagement, aiming to shed light on the impact of detailed data and resources on learner agency and performance.

  • During the pilot, teachers and students will be provided with:
  • exam board-specific trackers with granular question-level data
  • teacher tools for identifying and aiding underperforming students
  • student reports with skill breakdowns and resource links
  • seamless data access to foster collaboration across staff, students and parents
  • engagement with granular attainment data to boost motivation and agency for learners.

Over 1,000 year 11 English and maths learners across 10 schools in England will take part in the pilot.

The work being conducted in the pilot aligns with the Pupil Progress vision to equip teachers with efficient tools, enhancing personalisation and future opportunities for learners.
