V Cert in Health and Social Care

Our Level 1/2 Technical Award in Health and Social Care offers pupils the chance to explore the job roles and career pathways of a health and social care practitioner, as well as building their understanding the fundamentals of human development – from conception to birth, and throughout the entire life span.
V Cert Technical Awards are designed to be delivered over two years. The first year of delivery is entirely dedicated to teaching and learning, with all summative assessments taking place in the final year of study. The Health and Social Care V Cert Technical Award is assessed by Non-Exam Assessment (50%) and Examined Assessment (50%).

→ The same size and delivery time as a GCSE.

Who this qualification is for
This qualification is designed for pupils who are interested in caring for others and want to explore how health and social care services support people across all stages of life. It provides a practical, project-based introduction to the sector, helping learners develop a strong understanding of the principles and values that underpin high-quality care. Pupils will explore key areas such as the structure of health and social care provision in the UK, the roles and responsibilities of practitioners, relevant legislation, human development across the lifespan and how care needs are identified and met. They will also learn about partnership working and how to develop personalised care plans. It encourages problem-solving, empathy and critical thinking, essential skills for anyone looking to make a positive difference in people’s lives.
