As the leading provider of care qualifications, NCFE is delighted to have launched a new Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate.
Launched June 2024, this qualification was developed as part of the Department of Health and Social Care’s (DHSC) drive to raise standards and professional outcomes within the care workforce.

Funding Update: Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate (19 March 2025)
On 19 March 2025, the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) confirmed that funding for the Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate will continue under the Adult Social Care Learning and Development Support Scheme (LDSS) for 2025/26. This means employers can claim increased funding of up to £1,540 per eligible care worker to support qualification delivery until 31 March 2026.
The latest LDSS guidance is now available, detailing over 100 funded courses and qualifications. The 2024/25 LDSS remains open for claims on eligible training started and paid for between 1 April 2024 and 31 March 2025, with a submission deadline of 21 March 2025. Late claims (submitted 22–31 March 2025) will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
What next?
This funding is more limited than the previous scheme with no dedicated funding specifically for the Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate. In addition, in order to manage the roll-out sensibly, for the first few months the DHSC will be providing access to the service via invite only.
As such, NCFE is encouraging all providers looking to be onboarded onto the new system to register their interest with the DHSC via their online form.

Award Bundle Options
There are 6 qualification bundles to choose from allowing you to target learning to the specific needs of your learners. If preferred, you can choose to deliver the Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate without taking up our offer of an additional free qualification.
Option 1 – Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate + Level 2 Award in Awareness of Dementia
This qualification aims to develop the knowledge and skills required when providing positive care for people with dementia and their families. The Level 2 Award provides an awareness of the causes and symptoms of dementia. This qualification is aligned to the National Dementia Strategy
Option 2 – Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate + Level 2 Award in Supporting Individuals with Learning Disabilities
This professional development qualification provides essential knowledge and skills to anyone wanting to actively support individuals with learning disabilities. Units include: the meaning of learning disability, support, legislation, communication and planning.
Option 3 - Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate + Level 2 Award in Awareness of End-of-Life Care
This qualification provides the opportunity to develop an understanding of different perspectives of death and dying, and the impact it has on individuals. It covers the aims and principles of end of life care, communication factors and how to access a range of support services in end of life care.
Certificate Bundle Options
Option 4 - Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate + Level 2 Certificate in Mental Health Awareness
This qualification aims to raise awareness of mental health and a range of mental health conditions.
Option 5 - Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate + Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Nutrition and Health
This qualification aims to increase understanding of the principles of healthy eating and the role of food in maintaining health
Option 6 - Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate + Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Autism
This qualification aims to develop learners’ understanding of autism and the principles of supporting individuals with autism - covering the person-centred approach and influence of positive communication methods, how to support positive behaviour, and how individuals with autism can be supported to live healthy and fulfilled lives.
